Ghanishka Kedar is a visual artist born and raised in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Her interest lies in community knowledge and the politics of visual language or how something is read, interpreted and understood, where formation and breaking of habit become her main area of observation. In her work, fact and fiction overlap. Considering them as one, she tries to find the dysfunctional or the 'other' aspect of functional things with the help of memory and error that is sometimes present in a post-digital society. Hers is an interdisciplinary approach that includes text, photography, video installation, sounds and body performativity. Currently, she is based in Vienna (Austria) completing her Diploma in digital arts from the University of Applied Arts, Vienna. She also works as a freelance illustrator, video editor, and designer. She worked on community art projects with Art1st India. Ghanishka did her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Aligarh Muslim University and Master’s in Visual Arts from Ambedkar University, Delhi.
